Health Catalyst Wins Gallup Great Workplace Award for Second Year in a Row

SALT LAKE CITY, April 24, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Catalyst, a leader in data analytics, decision support and outcomes improvement, is one of 37 global companies to receive the 2017 Gallup Great Workplace Award. The award was created to recognize organizations for their extraordinary ability to create engaged workplace cultures that drive business outcomes.

Health Catalyst joins a prestigious group of organizations that average a ratio of 14 engaged employees to one actively disengaged employee, which is more than seven times the rate in the U.S. and more than 15 times the rate for workforces globally. Gallup research shows that worldwide, just 16% of employees are engaged in their jobs—meaning they are highly involved in and enthusiastic about their work and are psychological "owners" who drive performance and innovation to move the organization forward.

First named to the list in 2016, Health Catalyst remains the only healthcare technology company and one of the few technology companies of any kind to win the award, which premiered in 2007. Other previous and current Great Workplace Award winners include CarMax, Charles Schwab, Cleveland Clinic, Hyatt Hotels, Intermountain HealthCare, Nationwide Insurance, Wells Fargo and other international brands.

"We are honored to be recognized again as one of the world's most engaging workplaces by Gallup," said Health Catalyst CEO Dan Burton. "Our mission of enabling massive healthcare improvements through the use of data and analytics is one that attracts smart, hardworking and humble people. There's nothing more engaging than seeing firsthand how your work is helping more people get better medical care, while improving the efficiency of great teams of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals."

Gallup's rigorous scientific research links employee engagement to nine integral performance outcomes: customer metrics, profitability, productivity, turnover, employee and patient safety incidents, shrinkage, absenteeism, and quality. Companies with this winning combination have a competitive edge — organizations with highly engaged workforces can grow at a rate that is 4.3 times greater than that of their competitors.

"The world's top-performing organizations help lead the global economy by engaging their workforces," said Jim Harter, Ph.D., Gallup's chief scientist of workplace management and well-being. "Gallup's Great Workplace Award winners understand and acknowledge the importance of employee engagement by making it a vital part of their organization while using it as a driving force to create real business outcomes."

The Gallup honor is one of 26 regional and national "best workplace" awards earned by Health Catalyst, including awards from Glassdoor, Fortune, Forbes, Inc., Entrepreneur, Modern Healthcare, and the Salt Lake Tribune.

Health Catalyst has multiple job openings across all locations. Interested candidates can see available positions and submit applications at www.healthcatalyst.com/job-openings.

WGU and Utah Jazz Award Tuition for One Year to Four Students

SALT LAKE CITY, April 20, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Western Governors University (WGU) and the Utah Jazz teamed up to provide four Utah students with a full year of tuition. Awarded during halftime of the recent Jazz–Minnesota Timberwolves game, the scholarships will allow the students to attend WGU, an online, nonprofit university, tuition-free for one year.

The four scholarship recipients are Alex Draper, of West Jordan; Amber Lorensen, of Pleasant Grove; Michael Morrell, of Provo; and Marcus Renlund, of Salt Lake City.

All four are new enrollees at WGU and submitted an official entry form earlier in the Jazz season. Draper is earning her bachelor's degree in business health management, Lorensen is seeking her master's in nursing informatics, Morrell is earning his master's degree in educational leadership, and Renlund is pursuing his bachelor's in information technology.

Learn more about WGU's scholarship opportunities at www.wgu.edu/scholarships and by following @WGU on social media.

Renlund enrolled at WGU because he needed the flexibility of WGU's IT program while he continues to work full time on the database and software systems of an international supply chain company. He also plans to accelerate his studies and earn his degree faster, an option WGU's competency-based approach enables.

"Earning a bachelor's degree has been something that I've always wanted to do," said Renlund. "This scholarship, paired with WGU's flexibility and competency-based model will allow me to realize my goal quicker than I would at a traditional school, and save me money."

The majority of WGU students are working adults who benefit from the online university's flexibility and competency-based online degree programs, which allow students to complete courses on their schedule, advancing as soon as they are able to demonstrate mastery of the material. This, combined with affordable, flat-rate tuition of $6,000 a year for most programs, is making it possible for more students to earn degrees that are helping them advance their careers. More than 5,400 Utahns are currently enrolled at WGU, part of a growing nationwide student body of 80,000.

"The Utah Jazz support the efforts of Western Governors University to provide online educational opportunities with this free tuition program," said Steve Starks, Utah Jazz president. "Our organization believes in the intellectual and economic value of education and giving students a chance to pursue their dreams."

AXIL Launches Crowdfunding Campaign For Mainstream Hearing Protection

DRAPER, Utah, April 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A noisy racetrack, a loud concert or a day of motorcycling can leave you with ringing ears and permanent hearing damage. But traditional hearing protection options are bulky, inconvenient or unattractive. AXIL, known for its in-ear product innovations, solves those problems with its new XP Defender and XP Reactor earplugs and has launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform with options for the mainstream market to grab the state-of-the-art hearing protection at a great price (starting at just $19 a pair).

According to the Center for Hearing and Communication, 48 million Americans suffer from significant hearing loss. While some are born with conditions that affect their hearing, most hearing loss is caused by exposure to loud noise. Just 15 minutes a day of exposure to over 85 decibels can cause permanent hearing loss. That's why hearing protection is such an important health concern.

The XP Reactor earplugs have reactive, interchangeable filters that block damaging noise while letting you hear frequencies for more normal hearing around you. (Kickstarter price $19.00 per pair)

The XP Defender opens and closes simply with the push of a button. This lets you instantly switch between hearing and protecting. (Kickstarter price $19.00 per pair)

AXIL has run three successful crowdfunding campaigns in the past and this new campaign, appeals to the mainstream market both in price point and purpose. The company also hopes to appeal to those who work or study in busy environments and want to use earplugs to improve concentration.

What makes these earplugs distinctive it that they are non-electronic and allow a certain range of sound in, but then automatically, and mechanically, they are able to react to louder sounds and dampen them automatically, a feature normally only found in expensive, electronic protection. There are no moving parts, the attenuation is a result of the acoustic design.

Let's Talk Business

Hello. My name is Bryan Baker and I lead the design and commerce team at AlphaGraphics in Salt Lake's industrial district. UtahLocal.net is something I've created to help organizations engage with Utahns using a lot of very cool tools. I love working with busy business people -- and I'd like to talk to you about your organization.

I also offer my support if you're responsible for your organization's print, display, electronic, online, fleet, HR, training, administrative, marketing and other graphic communications. My team works with some of Utah's largest multi-national companies as well as local family-run businesses. We've been at it every day for over 30 years, in fact.

I'm the guy you call when you're ready to take the next step. I see busy administrators wasting effort on things we can easily streamline. How do you manage all of the forms, training materials, events and conferences, branded apparel, marketing, vehicle graphics, storefront displays, signage, onboarding, websites, social media? What about special projects that take weeks and months to organize? Even mundane things like spending valuable time back and forth to the office copier -- there must be a better way.

Let's schedule an hour and talk about you and your work. Maybe investing an hour of your time today could save you hours tomorrow and every day after that. It could be that I just come away with an article to publish on UtahLocal.net about your organization's latest great project. Maybe much more. Click the link below to send me your contact information and lets talk.
